Saving the World By Maximising Baby Production?

The DNA of all sexually-reproducing organisms, impels them to maximise offspring production. This is clearly evident in the thinking of American 'Pronatalists'. They appear convinced they are saving the planet by having as many babies as possible. Pronatalists argue that, if they did otherwise, the world would eventually become full of old people, with nobody to care for them (https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/article/2024/may/25/american-pronatalists-malcolm-and-simone-collins). The difficulty, however, is that the planet is hardly short of people. There are more people alive today, than all the folk in recorded history. In deed, one can argue that Homo sapiens has been too successful for its own good. Studies have shown, that a single child in the US/Europe, generates circa 58.6 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. Some folk have even argued that the best way to fight the climate crisis is for couples to give up having children (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jun/20/give-up-having-children-couples-save-planet-climate-crisis). Fairly obviously, human 'greenhouse gas' emissions depend on, where an individual is born and their lifestyle. Things are complicated by a widespread (and growing?) antipathy, in many quarters, to substantial numbers of migrants. It's all really a question of 'balance'! American pronatalists are certain to make the climate crisis worse.
