This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Sandwich Island Saga 29. Tourism
Oahu has always been expensive but changes in the 30+ years since my last visit are very evident. There are new taxes on tourists as well as tickets being issued for formerly free locations (e.g. Hanauma Bay). The whole tourism thing seems to be becoming too regulated and controlled. It will be interesting to see whetherthe Hawaiian Islands eventually price and regulate themselves out of the market.
