Seeing the Changes 89

An Arctic poppy (Papaver radicatum) was spotted in Swansea but the reds are still in bud. Visited, in Loughor, by Brimstone (Opisthograptis luteolata) and a Brindled beauty (Lycia hirtaria) moths. Also saw my first Two-spot ladybird (Adalia bipunctata) of the year. In Bynea, the Scarlet pimpernel (Anagalis arvensis) need be sought no longer, along with the Scentless mayweed (Matricaria perforata), Smooth sow thistle (Sonchus oleraceus) and the Rock cinquefoil (Potentilla rupestris). The Field horsetails (Equisetum arvense) have fully unfurled. Increased insect activity there, with the Speckled wood butterfly (Parage aegeria) and two Bumble bee species (Bombus hypnorum and Bombus terrestris). At Llangennith, Broad-leafed dock (Rumex obtusifolius) is coming into flower along with Portland spurge (Euphorbia portlandica), Wood cranesbill (Geranium sylvaticum) and the White rock-rose (Helianthemum appennium).
