The 'Extinction Rebellion Protest' in London hopes to focus people's minds on the dangers facing our planet by bringing the city to a halt (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/apr/15/thousands-expected-in-london-for-extinction-rebellion-protest). The trouble is that meaningful change that might make a difference is going to mean real inconveniences for people (voters?) who like things the way they are. This is one day of action in one location that can be contrasted with months of protest by the Gilets Jaunes in France who basically objected to an increase in fuel prices.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
