This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Home, Home on the Range, Where the Deer and the Sausage Roll Roam?
Food packaging gets more and more weird. I know what they are trying to sell (in terms of the qualities) but the description of "British outdoor reared pork sausage rolls" is just too funny to ignore. Where are these pork sausage roll farms or are these 'wild' savouries? Just what are the welfare requirements of a sausage roll? How do they breed? When many children apparently don't know where a potato comes from, it isn't really very helpful.
