Lung Cancer and Non-Smokers

There's an increasing proportion of folk, who've never smoked tobacco, diagnosed with lung cancer. Lung cancer in such folk is  now the 5th highest cause of cancer deaths, worldwide. It seems very likely this increase is linked to air pollution. Most of the deaths result from adenocarcinoma, a form of lung cancer  prevalent in people exposed to dangerously polluted air. The greatest incidence was recorded in folk in SE Asia (especially China)  (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/feb/03/lung-cancer-never-smokers-rise-worldwide-air-pollution). It seems clear that a combination of reducing tobacco smoking and an improvement of air quality is needed to bring down lung cancer. Sadly, some folk counter any attempts to improve air quality in cities. They resist establishing emissions reduction zones, lowering speed limits and limiting car access. Air pollution is a hidden cause of human ill-health/death.
