I must admit to not having been overly impressed by UK politicians, even the ones who are advocating recognising that there is a climate emergency. It's commendable that they recognize that we have a problem but many of their musings seem to (over?) stress the benefits of actions in terms of potential jobs, increases in national wealth et cetera. It seems likely that any real action that is going to be sufficiently timely to stave off Planet Sauna will inevitably cause some widespread pain. This pain must be fairly shared or the chances of a programme being acted on are remote.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
