It has been estimated that the UK will need to spend £1bn annually to deal with the effects of climate change on the flooding of property (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/may/09/climate-crisis-flooding-threat-may-force-uk-towns-to-be-abandoned). It has even been suggested that some towns (notably around the Humber and in Devon?) may have to be abandoned. Perhaps the costs of not sufficiently countering the release of 'greenhouse gases' along with managing land without paying attention to drainage is starting to be more widely appreciated?
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
