One might be seduced into believing that now campaigners and politicians are focusing on environmental issues facing the planet, problems will be solved. This is somewhat countered, however, by reports of there being a circa 40% increase in the incidence of fly tipping in England over the last 6 years (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/may/11/incidents-of-fly-tipping-in-england-jump-by-almost-40-in-six-years). It just shows (on a micro-scale) how the actions of a thoughtless (or greed-motivated?) few can counter a prevailing mood to clean up our environment.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
