I suppose that it is modestly encouraging that the government might review plans for a 3rd Heathrow runway in the light of the sudden prominence of climate change issues and the need to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/may/11/climate-emergency-edict-in-uk-to-shape-decision-on-heathrow-expansion-review), but the issue appears to be a 'no-brainer'. Whether, of course, this airport expansion would actually be cancelled when it was initially touted as evidence that 'global Britain is open for business' is a moot point.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
