This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Storking Horse?
The White Stork Working Group is considering options for reintroducing this 'majestic' bird to Greater London (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/jul/05/rewilding-plan-aims-to-bring-majestic-white-storks-to-london). Wetland restorations across Greater London have greatly increased feeding locations for the White Stork. There's a possibility that these large, migratory birds can be encouraged to nest on some prominent buildings. It might, however, be an idea to keep White storks from well away from any airports. Collisions would endanger both birds and pilots. Migration times would have to be monitored.
