In parts of Berlin, temporary 'pop up' cycle lane have reportedly been created to facilitate social distancing by bikers in response to the Covid-19 pandemic (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/13/pop-up-bike-lanes-help-with-coronavirus-social-distancing-in-germany). This is possible, because of the currently greatly reduced flow of car traffic and appears helpful in enabling people to get to work whilst reducing the risk of transmitting the air-bourn infection. It would be nice if some of these improvements for cyclists persisted after the pandemic is brought under control.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
