Coming into Fruit

In spite of earlier tales about recruiting students and hotel staff (suddenly at a loose end because of Covid-19) to pick soft fruit on UK farms, it has apparently proved necessary to fly in Romanian pickers in to do the job (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/15/romanian-fruit-pickers-flown-uk-crisis-farming-sector-coronavirus). I can appreciate the urgent needs of this farming sector but the move must create a greater risk, in terms of viral transmission, to both the pickers and their families at home as well as to local populations. It does suggest that reducing migrant labour is not going to be an easy process in many sectors.
