This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Environmental Awareness
Spent most of my day, writing a new introduction to an Environmental Awareness module for The College at Swansea University. I've not been able to think of a single degree scheme/future graduate employment, where some knowledge of environmental issues will not now prove essential. Sadly, in some cases, it's to make the employee more effective in their 'greenwashing'. It's also rather sad, having to introduce students to the use of AI chatbots (on the grounds that everybody will be using them), given the enormous electrical demands of servers. The global heating effects of chatbot use, will greatly exceed 'mining' for digital currencies.
