This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

A Refilling of England's Reservoirs Seems Unlikely
Last year, farming in England was seriously disrupted by Summer water shortages. 2023 has now featured the driest February since 1993. Little rain is also forecast for this coming Spring (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/mar/01/driest-february-england-signals-drought-ahead-experts). The UK's reservoirs have not been refilled by Winter rains. Another drought seems a strong probability. This will impact on fresh food production, at a time when there are already shortages and substantial price increases in UK supermarkets.
