Attenborough Anonymous

The BBC will shortly broadcast David Attenborough's Wild Isles. This programme (likely to be Attenborough's last 'in the field') will feature 5 spectacular episodes on the natural history of Britain. Weirdly, the BBC will make one (the 6th) episode available only on iPlayer. It appears that the Corporation fears a right-wing backlash, if this episode is broadcasted along with the others (https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/mar/10/david-attenborough-bbc-wild-isles-episode-rightwing-backlash-fears). The 'offending' episode apparently deals with the likely loss of much of the UK's natural history. Surely actual 'balance' requires presenting information on both positive and negative issues. The BBC seems to have lost sight of its mission to educate the general public. Running scared of climate change deniers and polluters, is no way to act! Their approach was never right, when climate change was 'balanced' climate change denial in the early days.

After all the hype about the solitary online episode of David Attenborough's Wild Isles being 'too hard hitting for TV, Professor Dave Goulson (University of Sussex), says it doesn't go far enough!

What's In a Critter's Name? 23. Armadillo

The name 'Armadillo' is simply derived from a Spanish word, meaning "little armoured one".
