Air Quality Knows No Borders!

Hundred's of wildfires, many 'out of control', are raging across Canada. The fire 'season' seems to have become extended, as the country has become hotter and drier. These fires are an obvious threat to Canadians, living in areas where they occur. The smoke and particles generated by the fires, however, travels enormous distances. Air quality is now compromised, across the border, in New York City (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jun/07/canada-wildfires-smoke-air-quality). Recently, a purple alert, signifying dangerously poor air quality has been issued for Washington DC. People are being told to stay indoors and to only leave their houses, with medical grade facemasks. This is a long way south of Canada (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jun/09/canada-wildfire-smoke-climate-crisis). Poor air quality has serious impacts on human health. It reduces longevity and can (and does) kill. Surely, by now, most inhabitants of the North American continent must recognise climate change as being real process? It's not an evil ploy by environmentalists to prevent oil, gas and coal companies making an honest buck. Huston, we have a problem! Anthropogenic (human-mediated) emissions have to be markedly reduced on a worldwide basis.
