Saving the Developing World From the Climate Crisis?

The Bridgetown Initiative is considering how developed countries (responsible for the vast majority of the planet's emissions) might help the developing world (who suffer some of the worst consequences of climate change), deal with the current nexus of climate, debt and development. The preliminary conclusion is that the issue needs a complete rethink and anything meaningful, will cost trillions, rather than billions, of dollars (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jun/18/countries-are-drowning-climate-expert-calls-for-urgent-rethink-on-scale-of-aid-for-developing-world). This must make it even less likely that the developed countries will cough up the needed funds. It's highly probable that a) developed countries will decide that providing help is too costly, b) developing countries will not feel empowered to minimise their emissions nd c) tensions will continue to grow between the two 'camps'.Sounds potentially very messy.
