What's In a Critter's Name? 6. Jackdaw

Some folk believe the Jackdaw (Corvus monedula) name is linked to the sound of its 'tchack' call. Others think 'daw' or 'dawe' is an Old English name for the bird and that 'jack' means 'small'.
