Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Hi Paul, it looks more like a bolete than a Russula. Did the underside of the cap have pores or gills? Maybe Boletus pallidus (not sure if it is a UK species though)?
