Reaping What They Sow?

Extracting and burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide and methane. Both are potent 'greenhouse gasses', producing marked global heating. Increasing average Earth temperatures increases the melting of ice in glaciers and at both the Northern and Southern poles. Conversion of ice into water and thermal expansion of the water per se  are predicted to lead to a sea level rise of around 1 metre. Major oil ports, especially those in Saudi Arabia and the US, will be overwhelmed by a rise of this magnitude (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/04/climate-driven-sea-level-rise-set-to-flood-major-oil-ports). Could this be viewed as a case of  'getting their own back'?
