This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Cuadrilla Guerillas?
No sooner had Cuadrilla announced it was ceasing its fracking in Lancashire, than a group of Conservative MPs, plus a Member of the House of Lords, call for its resumption (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/feb/13/david-frost-joins-tory-mps-in-calls-for-return-of-fracking-in-uk). The group maintain that, extracting domestic shale gas, would give the UK a 'competitive and reliable source of energy'. In their world, cash always trumps environmental issues. So, never mind runaway climate change; earth tremors; disturbance; increased levels of disease and early deaths. These would all occur far away from Westminster!
