The claim that the recent court ruling on the current inappropriateness (as it does not take into account the UKs signing up to the Paris agreement limiting greenhouse gas emissions) of building a third runway at Heathrow airport is the 'end' of such developments is, I feel, very optimistic (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/feb/28/campaigners-celebrate-heathrow-ruling-as-beginning-of-the-end). Not only will the decision be challenged by the airport operatives but decisions about other developments that could greatly affect climate change will be taken by different bodies (courts, governments, local planning agencies and councils) with different rules and varied agendas.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
