This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Renoducts For Red-nosed Reindeer?
Sweden is to build around a dozen renoducts (bridges for reindeer) in the north of their country (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/20/sweden-to-build-bridges-for-reindeer-to-safely-cross-roads-and-railways). The renoducts will facilitate the safe crossing of roads and rail tracks by the reindeer (contrary to belief, they cannot fly). It seems that these animals have been forced to move to new foraging areas by the effects of climate change.
