This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

So, What Did You Expect?
There are conflicting accounts of precisely why Foreign Office minister, Zac Goldsmith, resigned. He claims it's because the UK's PM is profoundly 'uninterested' in environmental issues. Goldsmith says the PM simply shows 'apathy in the face of the greatest challenge we have faced' (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jun/30/rishi-sunak-urged-to-heed-criticism-on-climate-after-zac-goldsmith-quits). So, what did Goldsmith (or anyone else) expect? The current PM is a billionaire, ex-Investment Banker (Goldman-Sachs), who is unlikely to be interested in anything, apart from personal kudos or immediate profits. The only 'environment' he's likely to be interested in, is the temperature of the swimming pool in his Yorkshire constituency house.
