Montys

The Florida everglades are over-run by pythons initially released by bored snake pet owners and these are said to be decimating the wild life in that unique area. There is now an annual 10 day challenge when people (categories include professional hunters, general members of the public, army veterans etc) can win prizes for capturing these reptiles (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jan/30/florida-python-bowl-challenge-capture-snakes). This is termed the 'Python bowl' and people can receive an all-terrain vehicle for capturing the heaviest (28.1kg ) and the longest (3.84m) beast. A total of 80 snakes were bagged this year but, sadly, this appears to be a 'drop in the ocean' compared to the tens of thousands thought to be out there.
