This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Ten Out of Ten in London
Londoners are warned to avoid strenuous exercise on Friday, the 14th of January 2022 (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jan/13/londoners-told-to-reduce-physical-activity-on-friday-due-to-pollution). An intense high pressure area will be hovering over the UK capital on that date. This will result in air pollution reaching its highest level (10). Such conditions are especially dangerous to people with respiratory problems but even the healthy may suffer. Weather conditions can make it dangerous to live in certain locations, especially when combined with pollution.
