I can confirm, from personal experience, that the Covid-19-related lockdown has detrimental effects on mood and mental health, especially in people living in single occupancy households (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jun/19/two-in-five-uk-adults-feel-lonelier-under-lockdown-finds-survey). A survey has found that 40% of UK adults feel lonelier as a result of this necessary circumstance. Many also appear to be pessimistic about their situation ultimately returning to anything that is close to normality. Apps are not a substitute for real social contact. There is likely to be a mental health consequence of social isolation.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
