Who would have thought that (reportedly) some plastic product manufacturers are using the Covid-19 pandemic to argue against current bans on single use containers (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jun/22/reusable-containers-safe-during-covid-19-pandemic-say-experts)? I hope that the counter from 'experts' that reusable containers are safe for use at this time will carry the day. There is enough extra plastic in the discarded Personal Protective Equipment (washing up on a beach near you), without going back to using disposable coffee containers, straws and plastic eating utensils.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.
