This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Gone Fishing: Fishing Gone
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has placed a quarter of the Earth's freshwater fish on its 'red list' (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/dec/11/quarter-of-worlds-freshwater-fish-at-risk-of-extinction-age-of-extinction-aoe). Species on an IUCN 'red list' are at serious risk of early extinction. The predictable challenges for these species are listed as global heating (reducing the oxygen content of water); overfishing and pollution. Collectively, humans!
