This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

The Least Surprising Statement For 2023?
Shock! Horror! The United Arab Emirates Cop28 President announces, within days after his 'triumph', that Adnoc (the UAE's state oil company) will keep on investing in oil. They must do this, he says, because it 'has to meet the demand for fossil fuels' (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/dec/15/cop28-president-sultan-al-jaber-says-his-firm-will-keep-investing-in-oil). Adnoc could always tell the demanders they should wean themselves off the black stuff. That, however, would cut into profits!
