This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Later The Same Night in Paris?
There is an Addendum to my comments on the 5th anniversary of the Paris accord on climate change. It was mentioned that eventually a promise by rich countries to provide $100 bn to poorer nations, to help them reduce their 'greenhouse gas' emissions was key. It became a major factor in getting all the nations (rich and poor, large and small) to sign up to attempts to limit global warming. The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, has now pointed out that this sum never materialised (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/dec/09/rich-failing-help-fund-poor-countries-climate-fight-warns-un-chief-antonio-guterres). He thinks that funding for developing nations to 'go green' will again be an issue in the scheduled Cop26 talks. Guterres suggests, however, that the promises of the rich nations may not be trusted this time. Talking the talk but not walking the walk!
