This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Run to Charge Your Car?
The first of Gridserve's planned 100 UK electric car-only service stations has openned at Braintree in Essex (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2020/12/07/britains-first-electric-only-car-charging-station-opens/). The Braintree location, apparently has 36 rapid chargers that can supply, in only 20 minutes, sufficient electricity for the car to travel 200 miles. It also has shops and a gymnasium, where driver's activity on running machines, helps to supply the electricity to charge their vehicles. I am willing to bet, however, that drivers will be charged once for using the gym and once for having their car recharged.
