This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

'Adapt or Die'
It's a bit harsh but 'adapt or die' is the current message from England's Environmental Agency (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/oct/12/adapt-or-die-resilience-to-climate-change-needed-says-environment-agency). The Agency maintains that the people living in the areas it has responsibility for, have to 'become resilient to the already inevitable effects of climate change'. The Agency notes, for example, that England's water environment is polluted (they are not doing much about this). It also warns that pollution and increased demand (population growth?) will make it difficult to ensure clean and plentiful water. In addition, the body reiterates, although it has responsibility for dealing with droughts, floods and coastal erosion, it can't help everyone with these issues. Sink or swim!
