Fast and Furious Fashion?

The tendency of TV programming to trivialise the impact of on-line, fast fashion on the planet is concerning (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/aug/16/tv-should-be-exposing-the-flaws-of-fast-fashion-brands-not-ignoring-them). As a Mancunian, I can't help feeling a bit embarrassed by the fact that many of the companies in this line of business seem to be rooted in Manchester. Inside Missguided: Made in Manchester features a company that marketed a £1 bikini as a loss-leader and reportedly seem more concerned about price than ensuring their items are ethically produced. Extolling the 'fun' aspect of fast fashion sit oddly with the global fashion industry's Pulse report. This claims that, by 2030, the annual world output of clothing and shoes will have grown to 102 million tons. 'Throw away fashion' is not something the planet can (or should be expected to) sustain.
