This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

The Covid19 Roundabout and Nice Little Earners?
Covid19 may be out of the news but it isn't ever going away. The Eris variant is currently increasing infection rates in the UK and may be causing the country real problems by Autumn (Fall) (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/aug/17/covid-vaccines-should-be-available-privately-uk-scientists-say). The UK government currently seem 'relaxed' about the virus and are saving money by now restricting the Autumn NHS booster vaccine dose, to patients over 65 as well as some vulnerable groups. It's also been suggested that people not in line for a booster (or their concerned employers), could privately buy the vaccine. Moderna and Pfizer both suggest that single shots of the new vaccine could cost around $130. One level of health care for the well-heeled?
