This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Not Just 'Big Oil' In the 'Greenwash'!
Agribusiness is a source of enormous 'greenhouse gas' emissions. It's especially true of its meat and dairy production arms. Land use, fertiliser production and pesticides also pose major environmental issues. The wealthy food-production companies (they are few and enormous in size) appear to have become concerned that some environmentalists have called for human dietary modifications to counter climate change. They have, consequently, tripled the number of delegates sent to Cop28, compared to those they despatched the previous year (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/dec/09/big-meat-dairy-lobbyists-turn-out-record-numbers-cop28). It's been estimated that 'Big meat and dairy' sent 120 delegates to the United Arab Emirates. Agribusiness appears to have flown a total of 340 delegates/lobbyists to that meeting. One can be certain their focus has not been on reducing their activities/profits. 'Big oil' and 'Big Food' can be mixed in the corporate 'greenwash'!
