Apparently, the health consequences of air pollution inside UK homes have never been specified, although gas cookers produce contamination levels that would be illegal at the roadside actually being between twice and 5 times as dirty (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/may/05/gas-stoves-air-pollution-environment). If one really wanted to attempt to reduce health risk, there would have to be a much stronger regulation of emissions to which many people are routinely exposed. I suspect that it was just regarded as too problematical to raise this issue within homes.
This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Cooking on Gas?
