Conservation Crisis in Africa

Another Covid-19 consequence has been the collapse of ecotourism, which used to sustain much of endangered species conservation in Africa and other locations (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/may/05/conservation-in-crisis-covid-19-coronavirus-ecotourism-collapse-threatens-communities-and-wildlife-aoe). Without the income from such tourism, 1) It becomes harder for local people to see the 'utilities' of the conserved animals; 2) Monies are not available to pay for ranger protection of beasts and 3) Poaching becomes an even more attractive proposition to individuals who are suffering financially (especially given, for example, that rhino horn is actually more expensive per unit weight than gold).
