This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

An Oiling of Cop28?
Cop28, on climate change, will be in the oil-rich, United Arab Emirates. The President of this meeting, will continue to head both the UAE's Oil Company and its Sustainable Energy Businesses (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/13/uae-cop28-president-sultan-al-jaber-to-keep-role-as-head-of-national-oil-company). Unremarkably, some people see there being a number of 'breathtaking conflicts of interest' for the President. They are not at all convinced, that pressure to take the necessary urgent actions to minimise the climate catastrophe will be maintained. Yet another'cop-out', dominated by vested interests?
