This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Another Legacy of Covid-19?
An analysis of circa 240k electronic health records, found that 34% of people who had had a severe Covid-19 infection, were diagnosed, after 6 months, with Psychiatric or Neurological conditions (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/07/one-in-three-covid-survivors-diagnosed-with-mental-health-condition). The records studied, were from people mainly living in the US. The most common diagnoses were anxiety disorders; mood disorders; substance abuse and insomnia. Stroke and dementia were rarer but not uncommon in this cohort. The results are not especially surprising (given the nature of the experience and our original lack of medical knowledge). Clearly, however, Covid-19 infections will continue to impact on health services, long after people have been 'cured'.
