Plug-In Hybrids: Never Knowingly Undersold 'Benefits'

Car manufacturers are never shy, when extolling the 'virtues' of their expensive products. Hybrid Plug-In cars (PHEVs) have been marketed as a partial solution to climate change. It's claimed that such cars retain flexibility of use, with the capacity to motor long distance, with reduced carbon dioxide emissions. It's now been shown, however, that popular PHEVs from BMW, Renault and Peugeot all produce much more carbon dioxide in 'on road' tests than they do in their manufacturer's laboratory (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/feb/08/major-plug-in-hybrid-cars-pollute-more-than-official-measures-suggest). This appears to be yet another example of car sale 'hype'. PHEV's are not, by any stretch of the imagination, a 'solution' to climate change. They are not even pale green!
