This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Avast Behind?
The Monaco Yacht Show styles itself as 'the ultimate gathering of maritime luxury'. The event is full of millionaires and billionaires buying super yachts, many with swimming pools. Some have submersibles and/or helicopters. These big motor boats 'burn vast amounts of fuel to cross seas and run power-hungry services such as air conditioning and desalination (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/21/i-cannot-stress-too-much-about-it-monaco-yacht-buyers-shrug-off-climate-concerns). Although a few folk and ship designers are concerned about the impact of their boats on climate change, the general response of the mega rich is 'I don't think about it'.
