This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Plants We Used To Use 72. Bistort
All parts of Bistort (Polygonum bistorta) are edible, cooked or raw. Its leaves were traditionally used in Northern England to make Ledge pudding. They were mixed with oatmeal; nettles, onion and seasoning to make patties, fried with bacon. This was an Easter 'treat'.
