It Gets Worse!

You have to wonder what planet our lords and masters want to live on! The UK government are seemingly happy to use 'blue hydrogen' to fuel cars in their 'drive' to get to carbon zero. 'Blue hydrogen' is obtained from natural gas. Carbon capture is employed to prevent carbon dioxide leaching into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide would intensify global heating, resulting in climate change. Campaigners warn that carbon capture fails to remove 5-15% of the generated carbon dioxide. Using 'blue hydrogen' would consequently put between 6 and 8 million extra tonnes of carbon emissions into the atmosphere each year. If 'blue hydrogen' was exclusively used, these emissions would equal those generated by 1.5 million petrol cars (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/aug/22/uk-switch-to-hydrogen-power-must-not-rely-on-fossil-fuels-warn-campaigners). Even using one third 'blue hydrogen' and two thirds 'green', would equal the annual emissions produced by 1 million petrol cars. What would be the point? This would be a very expensive way of achieving next to nothing.
