This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. Plants We Used to Use 9. Bloody cranesbill
As one might guess from its name, this relative of the geranium, was formerly used for its haemostatic properties. The plant has been employed for treating a variety of conditions with internal bleeding, including heavy menstruation. Its has also been used to make a mouthwash to treat ulcers and bleeding gums.
