Chickening Out?

The river Wye scenically separates England and Wales. This waterway is much appreciated for its fishing and canoeing. The Wye is, however, currently in its death-throes. Its organisms are being suffocated by algal blooms. Algal growth is stimulated by phosphates in the chicken sh*t washed into the river. The sh*t is generated by the intensive farming along the Wye's banks (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/07/tesco-suppliers-river-wye-phosphate-pollution-chicken-farming). The organisation, River Action, blames the large Tesco supermarket chain. Tesco get their eggs from Noble Foods and chickens from Avara Foods. Both are based in Hereford on the banks of the Wye. These already monster enterprises are seeking permissions to expand. Bye-bye Wye?
