This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Too Busy Getting Elected By Promising Tax Slashing?
This really tells you everything about the current priorities of most UK Members of Parliament (MPs)! Parliament's All Party Group on Climate Change have revealed that, only 60 MPs Have signed up to attend today's emergency climate briefing, by the government's Chief Scientific Adviser (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/11/fewer-than-10-percent-of-uk-mps-sign-up-for-emergency-climate-briefing). The briefing is an updated version of the material, presented to the current PM, before Cop26 in Glasgow. It lays out the science and the importance of the challenge. I expect that some MPs are simply too busy jostling to take over from the current PM. There seems to be an auction, to see who can promise the biggest, believable tax cuts. Consequently, nobody wants to be associated with the 'tree huggers'. Abandoning net zero, to 'save' money, seems to be high on most of the participant's agendas
