This blog may help people explore some of the 'hidden' issues involved in certain media treatments of environmental and scientific issues. Using personal digital images, it's also intended to emphasise seasonal (and other) changes in natural history of the Swansea (South Wales) area. The material should help participants in field-based modules and people generally interested in the natural world. The views are wholly those of the author.

Hawaiian Wedding
Climate change effects get everywhere (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/jul/18/hawaii-waves-swell-south-pacific). A combination of high tides and rising sea levels (courtesy of climate change) resulted in 20 foot (6m) high waves crashing over homes and businesses on Oahu's South shore. The waves even temporarily disrupted a wedding in the area. Tables had to be moved. These 'winter' waves were much higher than usual. They are, however, probably the shape of things to come.
