Fast Food Is Bad For You in Other Ways

Consumers have been repeatedly warned that fast foods (e.g. burgers, burritos and pizzas) are not a healthy option. Such foods are high in saturated fats and salt etc, increasing the risk of developing heart disease. More recent studies, however, have shown that the box, bag or wrapper in which the fast food comes, can contaminate its contents with 'forever chemicals' (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/nov/03/your-fast-food-is-wrapped-in-grease-proof-ortho-phthalates-why-is-that-allowed). A George Washington University study found ortho phthalates in burritos and burgers. Another investigation found PFAS chemicals in 50% of the contact paper used to wrap desserts and baked foods. Phthalates were also common in the linings of pizza boxes. The 'forever chemicals' are used, because they make the item they are treated with grease-proof. It is clearly established that such chemicals are linked to cancers, problems with the reproductive system and even attention/learning disorders. Unlike, carbohydrates, proteins fats and salt, phthalates are not listed on the ingredients of fast foods. The ingestion of 'forever chemicals' is consequently not an informed choice. This situation, seems extraordinary, even by commercial standards!
